CONCEPT OF THE CONFERENCE
​
Context and Background
Promoting Excellence in Teaching and Learning in Azerbaijani Universities is an ERASMUS+
project devoted to the improvement of teaching and learning. The specific objectives of the
project were to build capacity for developing the teaching and learning process to meet
pedagogical and technological needs of faculty at all stages of their career, and improving and
providing quality teaching and learning through usage of innovative technology, promoting
research, and establishing long-lasting partnerships with European universities.
The project assisted to build the model of excellence in learning and teaching to guide and
methodologically support the education process within identified education institutions in
Azerbaijan which further disseminates this idea and model to others. This project contributed to
the progress of teaching and learning processes, building the capacity of university teachers and
enabling them to use technology and innovations in their teaching, to link their teaching with
research making it evidence-based, collaborate with and learn from European Partners, and
enable the students to benefit from these changes.

Conference Idea
This conference is devoted to the finazliation of the project that will bring together
representatives of 7 countries to share their experiences and research results partners conducted,
lessons learned during the implementation of the project. This final event explores the ways of
sustaining the gained experience, international collaboration, and further expand the boundaries
of research collaborations through joint projects and other opportunities.
Across the world, many universities are imeplementing their teaching and learning successfully
engaging students more closely, providing contemporary tools and advanced technology to
learning. This conference will provide an opportunity to share best experiences and way power
to achieve those results.
More prominently, the conference will look at the quality of teaching and learning, excellence in
teaching and learning, state of teaching and learning in Azerbaijan, human capital development
in universities and use of emerging technology in teaching and learning.

Conference format
This conference is a two-day conference that will bring together over 100 researchers from
different European and Partner countries.
The conference will start on 4 th of March 2020 and finish after lunch on 5 th . After the lunch on 5 th
of March universities will have a chance to Network with participants for further collaboration.
The conference will include a well balance of keynote sppeches, plenary sessions and
workshops.
